Robin King will present the World Resources Report: Towards a More Equal City paper on “Confronting the Urban Housing Crisis in the Global South: Adequate, Secure, and Affordable Housing.” The study focuses on three actionable approaches city officials can use to address the housing crisis, while highlighting specific examples from around the world:
1. Utilizing participatory approaches to improving housing without relocating residents to the urban periphery (in situ upgrading);
2. Expanding rental markets for people across all income levels; and
3. Converting under-utilized, centrally located urban land into affordable housing in cities.
